Our Story:
It all started with a very long and very rough trip to a well-known hair cutting store.
As a mom of four young boys, I know firsthand how overwhelming something as simple as a haircut can be, especially when your child has sensory sensitivities. I remember one particularly challenging day—my rambunctious little boys squirming in the salon chair, the noise, the unfamiliar surroundings, and the tears (theirs and mine). It wasn’t just a haircut; it was a stressful ordeal that left me feeling helpless.
And for parents of neurodivergent children, these challenges are magnified. Finding a place where your child feels safe, where the environment is calm, and where their unique needs are understood, can feel nearly impossible. Frustrated and overwhelmed, I vented to my husband, Zach, about the experience, and together we started brainstorming a better way. That’s when our good friend Eric, a fellow parent facing similar struggles, joined the conversation.
With the power of three parents who deeply understand the need for flexibility and compassion, we made a pact to create a solution. We envisioned a service where families wouldn’t have to choose between a decent haircut and keeping their child’s sensory needs in mind. A service that could offer flexibility, a space without judgment, and a stylist who truly understands.
That’s how Clipt was born. Clipt isn’t just an app; it’s a lifeline for parents and caregivers of neurodivergent children and adults. Our platform connects families with licensed stylists who specialize in sensory-friendly, in-home haircuts. These stylists create a calm and compassionate environment where your child can feel comfortable and safe—right in the comfort of your own home.
Together, Zach, Eric, and I are proud to partner with like-minded stylists and families, transforming the way haircuts are experienced for those with unique sensory needs. It’s not just about cutting hair; it’s about bringing peace to your family, one snip at a time. As a mom who’s been there, I know how much that means.
